Well, I bought tickets yesterday. I usually stick with Mega Millions cause I can toss in the occasional $1 without feeling like I’m breaking the bank, but that over half a billion was tempting. Didn’t win anything of course. On an amusing note though, on all 5 sets of numbers I got, each set had 1 number from the drawing…..
Why is it
That when you’re withdrawing money from an ATM, it allows you to fill in something in the change portion of your request?

(bleg: the sign didn’t come pre-drilled with screw holes. Its .040 aluminum, do I need anything special to drill it? Or am I better off positioning the screws around the sides to hold it in place?)
Trail camera pics
After a couple weeks of nothing but pictures of moving branches at the normal camera locations we re-evaluated where the cameras ought to be. There were lots of tracks in the yard, but they weren’t coming down the normal trails…
So we moved the cameras, and in the process discovered why Apollo keeps getting pissed in that direction after dark (sorry for the 2011 dates, apparently I forgot to set the year last time I changed the batteries on one of the cameras):
Can someone please explain to me why this f*cking cat is still around? He killed the Harris’s Sparrow yesterday, I’m voting for the coyotes….

Those of you who are wandering by from the gun community are certinally already aware that Tam has been diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma. She’s not asking for help, but being the community that it is everyone is offering. There’s not much I can add, but see here, and here for some fundraising ideas!
Theme update
So I ran the theme update this morning, its been pending for a couple days but I prefer to do it when I have at least a little time to play with it. It mostly went smoothly, except now the menu headers in the side columns are funky. Sorry about that. Looks like I have a project for the next few days….
Edited: And that ended up being an easy fix. Cool!
Sandy
By the time it hit us it really wasn’t all that bad. Bad winter storm bad, but not storm of the year bad. We didn’t loose power, though some of the surrounding areas have, mostly due to falling trees and branches. The extent of our damage so far: having to go out and re-tarp the firewood as all but one tarp was half loose and fluttering away in the gusting wind. At least none of them blew away….
The pictures coming from the coast are more than a little scary, and I was, again, impressed by the stupidity of human kind (what parent allows teenage girls to wander flooded dark streets at 11pm??), and thats without including the guy who went swimming at 10pm in the floodwaters, I never did hear if they found his body or not.
Weather

Bleh. We’re pretty much good to go. Wish we’d been able to put in battery backups on the solar system, or pick up a generator, just in case, but otherwise we’re set. Don’t even need ice (the frozen raw dog food will work just fine).
