Thursday morning he weighed in at 68lbs even, at 6 months of age. This puts him on schedule to meet or even beat his daddy’s 135lbs. One of his litter mates is gonna be a giant though, a month ago Aslan weighed in at 80lbs. Still in perfect proportion to his brother, he’s not a chubby puppy, just big!

I laughed water out my nose…..
….and then had to attempt to explain to my co-workers why. I wasn’t successfull.
The Fark headline:
Got my soap order.
I posted a while back about how a friend of mine had finally opened a webstore to sell her soaps and other skin care stuff. So a few weeks ago I put together some spare cash and placed an order.
I got a couple bars of the Guinness Beer Soap (cause it sounded too cool not to try). A bar of Dirty Dog Soap. Two tins of the Vanilla Bean Solid Lotions. I also ordered a custom soap log of spearmint & eucalyptus scent. And two bars of her coffee soap (which is not on the website because it requires lard and shes trying to cater to the vegi/vegan group, she’s trying to reformulate it to use a different oil, but hasn’t had any luck). She also (by prior agreement) sent me samples of the Sensitive skin Facial Mask, Peppermint Foot Butter, Yuzu Body Butter, Vanilla Cookie Lip Balm, Pink Sage Soap, Chocolate Mint Soap, and the Dead Sea Mud Soap.
Everything arrived today, and it smells awesome. The only one I’m likely to have an issue with is the Pink Sage because it contains lavender and I’m allergic, but its worth trying. The custom soaps (which I intend to use both for myself, and for gifts), smell just like I hoped they would, and the lip balm is heavenly. I’ll try to remember to post my thoughts and reactions on the rest as I use them.
Just a note, though she’s generally more than willing to do custom orders for soaps you’ll need to be prepared to buy the whole log, and remember that it’ll take longer to get since the soap has to set before its hard enough to ship out (ie: 2 to 4 weeks).
***Disclaimer: The owner of Beach Baby Bath & Body and I have known each other for a while, and she’s been sending me samples of various stuff for a long time because I have some odd allergies and she figured I was a good way to test things out. As stated above some of this order I paid for, and some she voluntarily included for me to try. I get no payment for trying those samples other than the enjoyment of the products themselves. Any review of these products, those I paid for and those I didn’t, will be as honest and complete as I can make it.
Alright, who’re you and what’d you do with my REAL puppy??
Sunday, we went to weight pull practice (see video a couple posts back). Both leaving the house and leaving the practice, putting Apollo into the car required my husband to physically pick him up and place him in the car. Not because the puppy was incapable of climbing in himself, but because as soon as he realized he was expected to get into the car he went into full panic mode: absolute end of the leash, choking on the collar, trying to get away from the evil car. THIS IS NORMAL for this dog. He HATES the car, probably a side affect of having his first real long distance introduction to one being the 10hr drive home from the breeders (he’d been to the vets a couple times with her, but her vet was literally down the road, very short trip). We’ve been working on it bit by bit, but every time we took him someplace he’d panic at the sight of the open car door.
Today Apollo walks up to the car (unusual), I open the door (expecting him to head for the hills), and he jumps in, sits down and looks at me. WTF??
(so we went for a drive around the block. We got home, he jumps out, I figure he’ll run away next time….right? Wrong, he just jumped, voluntarliy, into the backseat of the car again. Now if only I could figure out what I did that made it all click for him!!)
New York State’s Tax Policies….
Turns out if you are a full-time resident of another state, and either work some or all of the time in NY, or own a vacation home in NY state that you occasionally spend time at, NY insists you pay income taxes just as if you’re a full-time resident. I knew there was a reason I didn’t like this state.
H/T to Weekend Pundit for the link.

Apollo Videos
First up, a few second clip of the puppy enjoying his new pool.
Next up, his 2nd practice at the local Weight Pull club. He’s finally starting to understand the concept, though no real amount of weight being pulled yet.
Kitty Holster
I posted last week about getting a Kitty Holster for my younger cat. Well, here are a few pictures (she wasn’t cooperative, much more interested in the various moving things to pounce on).
Mobile format
So blogger decided to get on the “special format for mobile devices” bandwagon. I’m not in general a big fan of these, I hate WordPress’s for example, but I went ahead and turned it on to try. If you read this using a mobile device please let me know what you think.
Took the puppy for another walk
Actually we’ve been taking him for walks pretty regularly, both for exercise and for general exposure, we haven’t managed every day, but certainly most days. We make a habit of NOT walking by the psychotic german shepherds, cause not only does that mean I have to convince him to pass them, but also to pass by an elderly chihuahua who thinks he owns the street (damn pipsqueak comes barrelling out of nowhere yapping away, only to stop mid street, about two feet from Apollo’s nose to crouch and shiver, only to break out yapping again if Apollo tries to approach, which happens every time cause Apollo wants to be friends with EVERYONE). The prong collar solve the pulling problem. In-fact he’s walking pretty much loose leash with no problems and little distractions now. Very cool.
